A filled pancake-like envelope is produced by first preparing a dough of flour, water and oil to which fibre, crumb material and scrap dough are added. The dough mixture is kneaded, rested and then extruded to form sheets which are laminated and re-sheeted. The sheet is cut longitudinally into a plurality of dough strips to which sealant material is applied. A filling mixture is applied to longitudinally spaced locations on each dough strip. The strips are cut and folded over to encase the filling mixture and form a desired shape. Batter is applied by dipping one face of the envelope in a bath and applying a curtain of batter to the other face. The envelopes may then be crumbed and frozen. |
