PURPOSE:To prevent enviromental pollution causing heavy illness such as cancers and troubles of internal organs by a method wherein a reaction tank provided with a column into and out of which oxygen solved drain water can come and go, and so arranged that a photocatalyst excited by light radiation of a radiating lamp is contacted with the drain water is connected to a reservoir tank for decomposing organic halogenide. CONSTITUTION:A reservoir tank 1 is connected to a reaction tank 4 which is mounted with a photocatalyst 4b and a radiating lamp 4c within a column 4a. How to mount the photocatalyst 4b on the column 4a is determined by a relation of the photocatalyst 4b to the lamp 4c. If the radiating lamp 4c is arranged in a space partitioned by a transparent plate 4e in the center of the column 4a, the catalyst 4b is arranged on a circumferential wall at the opposing position in contact with treating water and receives light radiation over a wide range. On the contrary, if several radiating lamps 4c are arranged on the circumferential wall of the column 4a, the catalyst 4b is arranged within a space partitioned by the transparent plate 4e at the opposing position in contact with the treatment water so that the light is converged to proceed with reaction on the surface. In both the cases, the circumferential wall of the column 4a works as a mirror surface which scatters light. Further, in order to increase contact of the catalyst 4b with the treatment water, a buffle plate 4d is interposed. |
