<p>PURPOSE:To execute stable tracking control by deciding a detected synchronizing signal normal only when the synchronizing signal is detected after the lapse of fixed time detecting a pilot signal (PL), and executing the tracking control according to the normal synchronizing signal. CONSTITUTION:When detecting a normal synchronizing signal 100, a magnetic head (MH) detects a PL 102 behind 4 blocks passing a recording position (B) of the signal 100 and further when detecting a normal synchronizing signal 101, a PL 103 is detected before 2 blocks for the MH to pass a recording position (A) of the signal 101. Therefore, it is discriminated based on MH switching signal information whether the reproducing pattern of the MH is an incoming side pattern or an outgoing side pattern, in the case of the incoming side pattern, the detected synchronizing signal is decided as error only when the PL is not detected even after the lapse of fixed time detecting the synchronizing signal. Then, a reference signal selecting command is outputted and according to the reference signal of tracking error, tracking control is executed. Thus, even when the quality of a recorded signal on a magnetic tape is adverse, stable tracking control is executed.</p> |
