PURPOSE:To manufacture a molded article, the foamed state of which is uniform and the dimensional stability of which is favorable, by a method wherein molten foamable resin is injected in the cavity of a mold before the completion of mold closing and, after that, mold clamping is carried out by detecting the foamed state of the resin so as to compress the molten foamable resin in order to form the molded article. CONSTITUTION:By means of command signal emitted from a controller 34, molten foamable resin 30 is injected from an injection device through a resin passage 14a in a cavity C. After that, the pressure in the cavity C is detected with a pressure sensor 20 so as to compare the detection pressure outputted from the pressure sensor 20 with the reference pressure by a comparator 24. When the measured output coincides with the reference pressure, signal is outputted from the comparator 24 to the controller so as to drive a movable platen 12 on the basis of the command signal emitted from the controller 34 in order to clamp the mold. Thus, compression forming is performed under the state that the pressure in the cavity C is held at atomspheric pressure so as to turn a molten foamable resin 30a into a foamed article 30b having a U-shape in crosssection. |
