摘要 |
PURPOSE:To readily obtain crystalline phenols without any substituent groups in high purity by pretreating an aromatic hydrocarbon solvent with sulfonic acid or sulfuric acid and then removing a tertiary alkyl group directly bound onto the aromatic ring of the crystalline phenols in the resultant aromatic hydrocarbon solvent. CONSTITUTION:Crystalline phenols having a tertiary alkyl group directly bound onto the aromatic ring are subjected to reaction for removing the tertiary alkyl group in an aromatic hydrocarbon solvent to remove the aforementioned tertiary alkyl group. In the process, the aromatic hydrocarbon solvent pretreated with sulfonic acid or sulfuric acid, especially concentrated sulfuric acid is used as the aforementioned solvent and the crystalline phenols without any tertiary alkyl group are readily obtained in high purity without requiring troublesome operation such as recrystallization as in conventional methods. |
