<p>A float pref. of "pyrex" glass is suspended by a wire from a balance (e.g. semi-conductor type coupled to a Wheatstone bridge) in a flow chamber, so that it is continuously immersed, with a gap is not 1 cm from walls or pipes. The balance reading is conveyed electronically, pref. corrected according to a temp. senser in flow chamber, to a calibrated pen-recorder, or dial, reading directly in temp. normalised density. Pref. an immersed inlet inside a cylinder opening above surface, perforated rear chamber floor, and with dewatering outlet, degasses liquid flow and prevents flow disturbance of float, while outlet pipe at surface forms a weir to maintain const. liquid level.
