PURPOSE:To record optimum images within an intended time by designating a time required for a printing processing, counting a processing time to be forecasted dependent on each resolution based on an inputted printing data, and setting a resolution at recording images in accordance with a time value dependent on counted each resolution. CONSTITUTION:When a data fetched from a receive buffer 4 is decided to be a paper delivery command, a printer output section 7 is set to a resolution which is the highest among resolutions capable of printing within a limit value from a total value of processing times calculated with each resolution (values stored in processing time calculation value retention areas 6a and 6b) and a set processing time limit value. Thereafter, a command retained in a command retention area 6c is analyzed and diagrams are drawn in a frame memory 6d accordingly. When images for 1 page are produced in the frame memory 6d, a printing processing is actually started so as to deliver it to the outside.
