Camphor derivatives characterised by having general formula (I) or its enantiomeric structure (I) wherein R represents a hydrogen or halogen atom, a pseudo-halogen group, a hydroxy group or an optionally substituted alkyl, alkoxy, aryloxy, amino, organic acyl or organic acyl derivative group; their preparation from camphorquinone; and their use in the stereo selective preparation of 2R- or 2S- stereoisomers of 1,2-epoxypropanes or 1,2-diols which can be used in the synthesis of medical compounds. |
