PURPOSE:To obtain the tone arm for reproduction of records having superior acoustic characteristics inexpensively with good mass-productivity by depositing a material of low density, high rigidity and high velocity of sound on the surface of a metallic tube by a plasma melt spraying method. CONSTITUTION:An aluminum tube or titanium tube formed to a prescribed shape and size is roughened of its surface by being polished with emery paper or the like, after which it is immersed in chemical polishing liquid. Thence, a plasam melt spraying material of low density, high rigidity, and high velocity of sound is depoited on the surface of the pretreated metallic tube by a plasma melt spraying method, and the tube is more preferably heat treated further at about 600-1,000 deg.C temperature in an inert atmosphere, whereby the titled tone arm is obtained. Titanium carbide, chromium carbide, chromium boride, ziroconium nitride, and chromium silicate are enumerated as concrete examples for the melt spraying material. |
