PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of an edge drop at the top and bottom of a rolled material, by predicting the variation of shape of a rolled material after finishing a rolling pass, and by changing the thickness, shape and rolling direction of a material to be rolled. CONSTITUTION:At a roll forming pass to be carried out before a broad-side rolling pass, the roll gap of a horizontal roll is changed so as to increase by DELTAH2 the thickness for a range of length X at the end of a rolled material 2. The material 2 finished a roll forming pass is turned vertically to the rolling direction and is subjected to a broadside rolling pass. Finally, a shape controlled rolling pass wherein the said thickness increasing rolling pass and edging passes with a constant rolling reduction for every pass are carried out at the same time; hereby, the material 2 is roll formed into a rectangular shape. |
