The sponge composition comprises, as main component, the mixture of (A) 5-95 wt. pts. of single or mixt. of ethylenic copolymer or ethylenic ter polymer, and (B) 95-5 wt. pts. of low density polyethylene having less than 0.91 of density. Pref. the sponge compsn. comprises filler, crosslinking agent, foaming agent, plasticizer or pigment. The obtd. sponge has an excellent tearing strength, high elasticity and heat resistant property, and is useful for a shock absorber for sports goods, fender for a small ship, or packaging material.
