PURPOSE:To obtain a denitrification catalyst excellent in rigidity and abrasion resistance and also by no means inferior in denitrification activity by a method wherein a TiO2 sol is infiltrated in ceramic paper and, after baking, an SiO2 sol is infiltrated therein and the impregnated ceramic paper is dried before vanadium oxide is adsorbed and supported thereon. CONSTITUTION:Ceramic paper prepared from ceramics fibers having an SiO2 sol bonded thereto by a papermaking process is prepared. This ceramic paper is impregnated with a TiO2 sol to be dried and baked and further impregnated with an SiO2 sol to be dried and vanadium oxide is adsorbed and supported on the impregnated ceramic paper to obtain a denitrification catalyst. As TiO2, anatase type one is pref. The holding amount of SiO2 in the ceramic paper is pref. about 20-50g/m<2>. Vanadium oxide is formed, for example, by drying and baking the ceramic paper impregnated with an ammonium metavanadate solution. |
