Potentiostatic sensor with overlap track - located between adjacent ends of resistive track so that signal is generated as slider moves between ends

The sensor contains a slider (3) movable along a resistive track whose ends (4,5) are adjacent to each other and at different electrical potentials. An overlapping track (6) insulated from and overlapping the track ends in the slider motion direction is at a different auxiliary potential. As the slider moves between the ends of the resistive track it comes into contact with the overlapping track. ADVANTAGE - Output signals gives indication of sider position at all times, i.e. even when it is moving between track ends.
