Detecting movement of structured object - using CCD line detector on which image of object is formed, with transfer and shift register gates operated alternately

The method of contactlessly detecting the motion of structured objects involves using a CCD line sensor with at least two transport shift registers and forming an image of the moving object on the array. The CCD line detects the object perpendicularly w.r.t. its line of motion. The line axis is oriented in or follows the direction of motion. The transfer gates and shift register gates of the CCD line are operated in alternation. ADVANTAGE - Enables internal signal processing within detector, simpler and more efficient detection, even for objects moving in directions which are not at first known, and simpler adjustment.
