The thrombocyte induced thrombin formation in thrombocyte rich plasma obtd. from a blood sample mixed with a clotting retarding agent is determined by A) measuring the time required for the start of thrombin induced aggregation and/or the time required for the start of clotting while B) shaking the sample against the surface of a light permeable vessel contg. the sample and measuring the light transmittance of the sample. ADVANTAGE - A highly sensitive method allowing ready recognition of disturbances of blood clotting and thrombocyte function.
