The monitoring circuit (5) registers the actual current (I) by measuring the actual keying ratio (t) of a voltage (U) across the load (2) presenting an impedance. The actual (t) is compared with a predetermined stipulated keying ratio (Signal S) to derive currfent deviations. The monitoring circuit generates a correction value for the relationship between the keying ratio of the voltage (U) and the current (I) value affected by interference values (St). The latter can be delivered by at least a temp. sensor and a potentiometer. Sensors can monitor the temp. (T) of the load and/or the working voltage (UB). USE/ADVANTAGE - The load can be a pressure regulator. Requires no elaborate analogue amplifying circuits.
