A laminar heat exchanger consists of plates with regular spaced embossed features; these plates are built up into pairs with plane edges and the pairs are fillet-welded together into stacks in which the intermediate gaps lie at an angle to each other, the welded pairs forming tubes. The structure has slotted plates at the longer edges; the distance between adjacent slots is the depth of embossing of one pair of plates plus two thicknesses of the plates; the teeth between slots fit between the individual pairs; channel sections extend along the edge of the stack which are rigidly bonded to a frame, the corners of which are rigidly bonded by angle sections. The structure also includes pref. silicone-covered foamed glass components. The plates (10) and their embossed features (11) are arranged in mirror-image pairs welded together along the edges (12) to form tubes (14) and hollow intermediate spaces. The pairs of plates made into a stack are held in position by slotted plates (20) along the length and on both sides. These (20) are channel section in shape with unequal sides, one of which has the slotted edge. They fit into the welded tube ends of the system and with silicone seals between. They (20) are also welded to two other channel sections (30) to produce the framework. ADVANTAGE - The design has corner connections which are easily made and fitted. They hold the individual plates in position durably and also provide safe seals in operation. (1/1)
