The invention concerns a device for manufacturing multilayer paper or cardboard, the device having a primary screen (10) and a secondary screen (16, 18) forming a double-screen moulder which lays one layer of paper or cardboard on the next, the moulder (D) having a moulding roller (24) as the guide roller governing the motion of the double screen (16, 18). Located before the moulding roller (24) in the direction of motion of the double screen is a strip-type moulding unit (30), preferably a pressure-strip-type moulding unit. The so-called water-line in the fibrous material is near the moulding roller (24).
