The bench (3) and table (1) unit for school use can be adjusted in height. The bench (3) and table (1) are joined by one or more connecting-struts (2) fixed to the bench (3) and table (1). The connecting-struts (2) divide the bench (1) into two sitting areas and are adjustable in length and height. The desk top (12) is divided into a shelf compartment (14) facing away from the pupil, and a writing-top (19). One side at least of the desk top (12) has a side flap (20). Beneath the desk top (12) has one or more storage boxes (15). The support uprights (9) and table-legs (5) and connection are made of metal, the seat surface (7), back-rest (10), desk-top (12), side panel (20) and slats (21) are made of wood.
