The ion-exchange agent may be a zeolite, especially in the form of an aqueous extract of iron ore sinter, and may be admixed with a hexa- or metapolyphosphate. A brass tube is protected by use of industrial water containing CaCO 3 and also containing ion-exchange agent while, in the case of iron, CaCO 3 -containing water is applied first followed by water plus ion-exchange agent. For a copper surface, copper sulphide is utilised as the precipitate. A dye or pigment may be added to the liquid from which the precipitate is deposited. |
