PURPOSE:To obtain an anti-AIDS viral agent containing cepharanthine. CONSTITUTION:An anti-AIDS viral agent containing cepharanthine, having antiallergic, immunological modulating, and antiblood platelet agglutination actions and overcoming action on resistance to anticancer drugs, etc., extensively clinically used as a safe drug with hardly any side effects and expressed by the formula as an active ingredient. The aforementioned compound can be extracted from Stephania cepharantha Hayata, Stephania sasaki Hayata, etc., belonging to the genus Stephania of the family Menispermaceae and used as an essence prepared by concentrating the resultant extract solution under reduced pressure, precipitates formed by alkalifying a solution of the essence in an acid, further an alkaloid fraction separated therefrom, crystals, etc., obtained by separation and purification according to a conventional method. The dose of the aforementioned anti-AIDS viral agent is 10-1000mg, preferably 30-300mg expressed in terms of the active ingredient per day for oral administration. |
