A storage container (1) for button batteries (2) having at least one channel (3) matching the battery cross-section and having one entry (4) and one exit (5), a slider (6) arranged in the channel (3) and secured by stops (7, 8) at the entry (4) and at the exit (5) against being pushed out and locks (9, 10) allowing button batteries (2) only to be pushed through in the exit direction. The storage container (1) is used for accommodating new and used button batteries (2) which can only be pushed into the entry (4) so that, at the same time, a new button battery (2) emerges at the exit (5).
