The web is carried on an insulating support beneath a cutter blade secured to a carrier element which forms the inductor of a high frequency electromagnetic heating device. The carrier element thus produces an electromagnetic field around the blade which is operative to heat up the tip of the cutter blade. An inductor of a second heating device may be arranged adjacent the tip of the blade beneath the web. A straight and uniform cut or score can be produced. Only the cutting tip is heated to maximum temp. resulting in a more economic use of power. |
