Components of magnetic material are separated from an abrasive, polishing mixt in a magnetic separator comprising a magnet, in the form of an arc of a circle extending approx. from 8 o'clock to 4 o'clock, a belt which passes continuously around the arc to feed a progressively thinner layer of the mixt into a nip below 6 o'clock, where the components are magnetically lifted on the belt and carried around to the end of the arc, where magnetic attraction ends and the components drop off on to a discharge conveyor. Separation is more efficient than by conventional size-screening, and the plant is robust and trouble-free.
|
