<p>Thick metal workpieces (I) are fusion welded with an addition metal by forming a joint between (I), by depositing on the joint a product (II) which is fusible and sufficiently viscous in the molten state not to flow through the joint. The edge of (I), the addition metal and (II) are melted until the joint is filled, the weld is left to cool, and if necessary any slag formed is removed from the surface.</p> |
