An ice auger transportable on a snowmobile, and utilizing the electrical system of the snowmobile for its power. The electric motor and drive train are supported by a pair of transparent, di-electric plates, which serve as a light weight, safety housing for the power train for the auger bit, and insures direct visual control of the bit when in use.
