摘要 PURPOSE:To decrease the current consumed by a comparing and amplifying means by providing a latch means, and non-activating the comparing and amplifying means as soon as charging of a bit line is completed by its latch means. CONSTITUTION:When a control signal PAS becomes an H level, its H level is latched by a latch circuit 120, and by an output of its latch circuit 120, a comparing and amplifying means 110 and power source supplying means 132, 134 are activated. As a result, by the means 132, 134, a driving voltage is supplied to common nodes PS, NS from a power source and a sense amplifying circuit 40 is activated, and by its amplifying part 40, the minute potential on bit lines BL, the inverse of BL is detected and amplified. When the potential on the common node rises to, for instance, an internal power supply voltage, its potential is compared with a reference voltage VR by the means 110, and based on a result of its comparison, the latch operation of the circuit 120 is released. When the latch operation is released, the means 110 is non-activated by the output of the circuit 120. In such a way, an active period of the means 110 is shortened, and the power consumption can be reduced.
