PURPOSE:To obtain a friction material of an ultrasonic motor having excellent wear resistance with no sticking by constituting the friction material, brought into contact with a driven body, of a compound material consisting of carbon material and mechanical strength increasing material. CONSTITUTION:A small amount of pitch as a binding material(mechanical strength increasing material) is added to a fine grain-state carbon material, regulated into a predetermined grain size or less, and these materials are well stirred and mixed thereafter pressure-molded into a predetermined shape. Next, this pressure molded material is sintered at about 1100 deg.C in the nitrogen atmosphere, and this sintered material is placed in an autoclave to reduce a pressure and to remove gas in the sintered material, thereafter it is pressure-impregnated with a melted metal impregnation material(mechanical strength increasing material) to form a friction material 3. In this way, even in the case that the friction material is relatively moved relating to a driven body, which is a mate material, to generate friction, the friction material is prevented from wearing simultaneously the concerned friction material can be prevented from sticking phenomenon to the driven body. |
