<p>PURPOSE:To improve the encoding efficiency by determining an encoding area by a horizontal position detector and a final position detector and encoding only this area by an encoder. CONSTITUTION:An input signal and a threshold are compared with each other by a threshold discriminator 2, and a maximum horizontal position 5 and a final position 21 of a discriminating signal as the signal larger than the threshold are detected by a maximum horizontal position detector 4 and a final position detector 20. An effective area discriminator 22 determines a rectangular area having points, which have vertical positions of the maximum horizontal position and the final position 21 as horizontal and vertical coordinate values, and the origin as apexes, and an effective signal 23 is generated which commands an encoder 24 to encode only the signal in this area and before the final position. Thus, the encoding efficiency is improved by the code volume of encoding of the signal after the final position in comparison with a conventional efficiency encoder because the signal after the final position is not encoded.</p> |
