<p>PURPOSE:To discriminate glutinous rice from non-glutinous rice easily by subjecting the specimen rice to iodine coloring, irradiating it with an inspection beam of light, sensing the photo-quantity ratio of penetration light to reflex light, and determining the photo-quantities of two sorts of beams among the reflex light which have different wavelengths. CONSTITUTION:By the iodine coloring means M1, the specimen rice R is, as it is, immersed in an I solution to allow the rice to assume color according to the I coloring. A photo-quantity ratio sensing means M2 irradiates the colored rice with an inspection beam of light, and the photo-quantity ratio of the penetration light from the rice R to the reflex light is sensed. Further an extracted light photo-quantity ratio sensing means M3 extracts two sorts of light beams among the reflex light, which have different wavelengths, and determines the photo-quantity ratio, while a rice sort judging means M5 makes reference to a reference map M4 and automatically judges whether the specimen rice R is glutinous or non-glutinous from the photo-quantity ratio of penetration to reflex light and the photo-quantity ratio of the extracted beams of light. In this manner, the specimen rice R is allowed to make I coloring, as it is, without crushing the particles, and judgement can be placed quickly and easily through simple computing processes.</p> |
