PURPOSE:To attain high purifying ability by laminating purifying plates having holes of a specified shape, inserting and fixing a pipe in the central holes in the plates and fixing the resulting purifying unit in metal casing. CONSTITUTION:An exhaust gas purifying device A is composed of an exhaust gas purifying unit 1 for supporting a catalyst for purification of exhaust gas and metal casing 3. The unit 1 is formed by laminating a desired number of purifying plates 11 each made of a metallic sheet having exhaust gas passing holes 11a with louvering parts 11b around them and further inserting and fixing a pipe 2 in the central holes in the plates 11. The unit 1 is fixed in the casing 3. High exhaust gas purifying ability can be attained and the durability of the device can be improved.
