CONSTITUTION:The entire surface of the recording film 2 is irradiated with the visible ray of the wavelength corresponding to the absorption band of the visible light region where a photochromic material is in a colored state to change the photochromic material to a colorless state. Mask patterns 5... sides of the flush type photomask are brought into tight contact with the recording film 2 and the entire surface is irradiated with the IR rays from the substrate 4 side of the flush type photomask. The photochromic material in the regions 9... of the recording film 2 which is not covered with the mask patterns 5... is changed to a colored state. The duplication of the transmission type optical memory element is facilitated in this way.
