PURPOSE:To enable recording and erasing by selectively changing the order in a recording film by using a photosensitive polymer and heat source. CONSTITUTION:When information is to be recorded, high-density energy light such as laser light, for example, as the heat source is used to locally irradiate the medium so that the medium is heated over the phase transition point or over the temp. at which the medium becomes transparent, and then the medium is cooled to form the recording area. The recording area causes changes in light scattering, optical activity, double reflectance, or absorption. The recording area as formed can be used to read out the information. The recorded information can be erased by locally or wholly heating the medium. Thus, the record can be almost permanently stored and rewriting is possible. |
