PURPOSE:To produce a hydroxyl group-containing compound in a high conversion without requiring a tedious operation by bringing a silane derivative into contact with a linear olefin and an oxygen-containing gas in the presence of a specific manganese complex. CONSTITUTION:A compound of formula II (R<7>-R<9> are H, 1-10C alkyl, aryl, alkoxy, etc., but at least one is the group excluding H) is brought into contact with a compound of formula III (R<10>-R<13> is H, alkyl, alkenyl, alkinyl, carbamoyl, CN, but at least one of the groups is the group excluding H) and an oxygen- containing gas preferably at a temperature of -50 to 100 deg.C under 0.2-2 atmospheric pressures to provide a compound of formula IV. |
