PURPOSE: To improve the adhesion of a dye image receiving layer to a support by a method wherein a dye receiving element for thermal dye transfer is constituted of the support of polyolefin, the macromolecular dye image receiving layer and an undercoat layer located between the polyolefin support and the dye image receiving layer and constituted of a polymer having an inorganic main chain being an oxide of titanium. CONSTITUTION: A polyolefin support for a dye receiving element may also have a single layer of polyolefin or have a base having a polyolefin layer. In a suitable mode of embodiment, a paper base support having a layer containing a mixture of polypropylene and polyethylene is used. The polyolefin layer on the paper support is applied generally in a thickness of about 10-100 μm or about 20-50 μm preferably. A synthetic support having the polyolefin layer can also be used. It is preferable that corona discharge is applied to the polyolefin layer of the support before coating of an undercoat layer. |
