PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for a circulating water supply construction for precooling the atmospheric air and reduce equipment and operating costs, by supplying drain from an evaporator into a hollow body disposed in an outside air supply passage, with such a control of supply quantity as to prevent water drops from falling from the hollow body. CONSTITUTION:A drain pan 18 for recovering drain flowing down from a room heat exchanger 7 is provided at a room-side part 1. A multiplicity of pipes 31 formed of a porous high-water-content substance are arrayed in an outside air passage 30 leading to an outside heat exchanger 15. A piping for supplying water from the drain pan 18 to the pipes 31 is provided with a pump P. The water supply capacity per unit time of the pump P approximately equal to the quantity of water evaporated from all of the pipes 31, and the drain is supplied into the pipes 31 in such a condition as to prevent water drops from falling from the pipes 31, by water supply means P, C, S. That is, the drain is supplied into the pipes 31 sufficiently and evenly by the water supply means P, C, S, and the drain contained in the pipes 31 is evaporated as the pipes 31 make contact with the outside air, thereby precooling the outside air. The atmospheric air free of mist is thus supplied evenly to the entire body of the outside heat exchanger 15 so that refrigerating capability can be increased. |
