PURPOSE:To prevent seed and seedling rot of rice by immersing seedrice in a carbonate selected from calcium carbonate, magnesium carbonate, basic magnesium carbonate, ammonium carbonate and ammonium bicarbonate, dusting the seedrice with the carbonate or mixing the carbonate into soil. CONSTITUTION:The seed and seedling rot of rice caused by the pathogen of bacterial grain rot is controlled by immersing seedrice in one or more carbonates selected from calcium carbonate, magnesium carbonate, basic magnesium carbonate, ammonium carbonate and ammonium bicarbonate, dusting the seedrice with the carbonates or mixing the carbonates into soil. The immersion of seedrice is carried out preferably by using a carbonate solution having a concentration of 500-5,000ppm and the dusting operation is preferably performed by using the carbonate in an amount of 0.1-2.0wt.% based on the seedrice. The mixing of the carbonate is preferably carried out by mixing 3-60g of carbonate to the soil of one raising seedling box. The blight can be advantageously controlled at a low cost with little influence on the environment. |
