<p>PURPOSE:To provide a method for measuring the blood amount in a blood vessel by the use of a pigment to aid the diagnosis and therapy of cardiac insufficiency by obtaining pigment dilution curves at two downstream spots reached by the pigment infusion from the upstream spot in the blood vessel and measuring a blood amount reflecting a blood amount circulating in the body and a blood amount reflecting a blood amount circulating in the lung on the basis of the pigment dilation curves. CONSTITUTION:A certain amount I of a pigment infused into the upstream spot p in a blood vessel is caused to reach two downstream spots (q), (q') from the blood vessel. Dilution curves C, C' in the two downstream spots (q), (q') are simultaneously obtained to figure out the blood amount in the blood vessel Vq'=tm'XQ' from (p) to (q') and the blood amount in the blood vessel Vq=tmXQ from (p) to (q) assuming heart beat amounts Q, Q' in consideration of average circulating times tm, tm'. On the basis of the Vq, Vq! are measured a blood amount Vq reflecting the blood amount circulating in the body and a blood amount Vq, q=Vq'-Vq reflecting the blood amount circulating in the lung. Thus, two blood amounts in the blood vessel reflecting the blood amounts circulating in the body and the lung can accurately be grasped to provide materials for aiding the diagnosis and therapy of cardiac insufficience.</p> |
