PURPOSE:To obtain an excellent hue, solvent solubility and image stability and to efficiently form a high density color image by providing a layer containing a specific magenta dye on a support. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal transfer recording material 3 wherein a layer 2 containing a magenta dye represented by formula [I] is provided on a support, an image receiving material 5 is superposed on the layer 2 and the thermal transfer recording material is heated corresponding to image data and the dye is diffused and transferred to the image receiving material 5 to form an image on the image receiving maternal 5. In the formula [I], R<1> is a monovalent group, R<2> is an acyl group or an aryl group, R<3> and R<4> may be mutually same or different and are an alkyl group or an atom group mutually bonded to form 5- or 6-membered ring along with one nitrogen atom and R<5> is a hydrogen atom or a monovalent group. |
