The invention relates to a tray comprising a main central part (1) whose perimeter is bounded by a raised rim (2). According to the invention, the main part (1) is made from a first material while the rim (2) is made from a second material which is a thermoformable plastics material different from the first material and is fixed to the main part (1) by hot injection and covers the upper (1A) and lower (1B) faces of the edge of said main part (1). One application of the invention is to the making of very long-lasting trays for catering services. <IMAGE>
