<p>A multi-purpose exercice apparatus for safely performing weight lifting exercises that eliminates the need for an assistant, comprising a bench (22) that is supported on the floor at both ends, one end of which is pivotally anchored (28) to an elongated U-shaped weight supporting frame (26) which encompasses and surrounds the supported bench (22). The U-shaped frame (26) further includes a vertical support (34, 36) that is attached to a positionable weight lifting handle bar (40). Free weights are mounted on each side (42) of the moveable end (26b) of the U-shaped frame (26). Because of the length of the longitudinal side members (26a, 26c) of the U-shaped frame (26) extending from one end of the exercice bench (22) to the opposite end, the path of the handle bars (40) is essentially linear. The apparatus provides for maximum efficiency and safety in bench pressing, squatting and other free weight exercises.</p> |
