The mat-like structure (7) which is used in the upholstery of the seats in motor vehicles, has a limited degree of compressibility. The structure consists of a base (1) which is divided into squares or triangles. The elasticity of the structure is provided by two or more curved arms (4,5) each of which has its lower end attached to the base (1) at a corner of a triangle or square, whilst the upper ends of the arms are connected to each other.
