A gas laser has mirrors mounted in such a way that adjustment can be performed with a distorting load being applied. The laser has a pair of mirror bodies (1,2) with the mirror surfaces (3,4) defining the laser space (5) together with the inner electrode (6) and the outer electrode (7). The mirror elements are located within flanged bodies (9,10) that are supported on spacer bars of Invar or glass (11). The flanged elements have internal grooved channels (12) through which a cooling fluid passes to main constant temperature. The position between the mirrors can be adjusted by threaded nuts (25) on the spacer bars.
