Volatiles storage and metering device has a vent line connected to atmosphere and containing a storage chamber with absorber element. A line between the chamebr and the intake tube can be closed off by an electromagnetic valve complete with an expanded control chamber between valve and intake tube. The control chamber contains a device to vary the valve throughput. The device may consist of an auxiliary valve (15) between an electromagnetic valve (13) and the induction manifold (1). The auxiliary valve is closed via an underpressure adjuster responding to the pressure difference between the control chamber and atmosphere (23).
