<p>PURPOSE:To simultaneously regenerate and activate acrylamid forming activity and selectivity by treating a Raney copper catalyst with one or more kind alkali aqueous solution and subsequently treating the same with one or more kind of an acid aqueous solution. CONSTITUTION:At first, a Raney copper catalyst lowered in activity is subjected to regeneration treatment by one or more kind of an aqueous solution of alkali selected from sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, sodium carbonate and potassium carbonate and sufficiently washed to elute and separate alkali. Next, said catalyst is treated with at least one or more kind of an aqueous solution of an acid selected from an inorg. acid such as hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid and an org. acid such as fromic acid or acetic acid. Subsequently, the catalyst is sufficiently washed to elute and separate the acid. Thereafter, the treated catalyst is again used in the catalytic hydration reaction of acrylonitrile. By this method, the capacities of the Raney copper catalyst lowered in activity, that is, the acrylamide forming activity and selectivity of the catalyst after regeneration are simultaneously and effectively regenerated and activated.</p> |
