A spring-biased diaphragm (2) divides the amplifier housing (1) into two chambers (3, 4) connected by a vacuum port (17) and a valve (8) to e.g. the engine inlet manifold. Hydraulic pressure in the brake master cylinder is increased by movement of the diaphragm (2) and pressure piece (16) by means of the brake pedal connection (15). The control valve (10) is also electrically operable by an electromagnet (19) on a carrier (20) coupled to the control sleeve (12) which vents one chamber (4). ADVANTAGE - Normal brake operation is guaranteed with driver-independent automatic braking in unsafe conditions of e.g. wheelslip or excessive speed.
