Synthetic fibre yarn with alternating S-Z twist - has filaments intermingled by rubbing with reciprocating aprons

A cohesive synthetic fibr yarn has alternating S/Z twist produced by rubbing. It has 4-26 (pref. 6-20) twist reversals per metre. The yarn can be a continuous filament yarn which is texturised before cohering it by rubbing. Pref. the alternating S/Z twist is produced by passing continuous filament yarn of 20-500 (pref. 40-80) dtex, having filaments of 1-5 dtex between reciprocating rubbing aprons. The rubbing aprons have a throw of 10-40 (pref. 15-35) mm and several yarns can be treated at the same time or different types of yarns can be mixed. USE/ADVANTAGE - A uniform cohesive yarn can be produced by simple means without having to insert real twist.
