METHOD OF COVALENTLY BONDING BIOPOLYMERS TO HYDROPHILIC SURFACES

The invention describes a novel method of covalently bonding biopolymers, such as protein, to an organic polymer surface coated with a hydrophilic uncharged layer, by conducting the immobilisation reaction in a nonpolar or substantially nonpolar reaction medium. The especially preferred reaction medium is a microemulsion suitably containing 0.5-25 % by weight of water.
