A compound having the structural formula where R is at least one of hydrogen, C1-C4 alkyl, C1-C4 alkoxy, halogen, cyano, phenyl, phenoxy, benzyl or COOR1; and R1 is C1-C4 alkyl is disclosed. A composition comprising a growth regulant effective amount of the compound and a carrier therefor is also set forth. In addition, a process for regulating plant growth comprising applying a plant growth regulant effective amount of the compound to the locus of the plant whose growth is to be regulated is taught.
