1358428 Fluoro-polymer compositions; polyphenylene sulphide compositions TEFAL 1 Nov 1971 [20 Nov 1970] 50695/71 Headings C3P and C3R A fluorocarbon polymer composition for use as a primary coating for keying a polytetrafluoroethylene lining on to a metal surface comprises an aqueous dispersion of a fluorocarbon polymer containing an intimate mixture of polyphenylenesulphide resin, lithium hydroxide and a pigment stable at at least 400‹ C. The composition may also contain cobalt octanoate and an alkali metal salt such as the sodium salt of polymerized dinaphthyl methane disulphonic acid. The primary coating is applied to a metal surface which has been roughened and optionally coated with a glass frit. The primary coating which is preferably a discontinuous film, is allowed to dry and then covered with a coating of polytetrafluoroethylene and is then sintered at 400‹ C. for 10-15 minutes. In examples dispersions of polytetrafluoroethylene and/or tetrafluoroethylene hexafluoropropylene copolymer are mixed with polyphenylene sulphide resin, lithium hydroxide, the sodium salt of polymerized dinaphthyl methane disulphonic acid, cobalt octoate and carbon black or an unspecified pigment.
|
